The final of the "Four Nations Ice Hockey Tournament" was held at the U.S. team's home court against the Canadian team. Before the game, U.S. President Trump said he would call the U.S. ice hockey team "to inspire them to defeat Canada", and added "one day, maybe soon, it will become our cherished and very important 51st state".

In the end, the Canadian team defeated the American team. After the game, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau posted a message on social media to hit back at Trump, saying "You can't take away our country, and you can't take away our game".
