In response to the incident "Tourists said they encountered an avalanche in Yubeng Village, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province", on February 21st, the staff of Meili Snow Mountain National Park, which is part of Yubeng Scenic Area, said that the scenic area is currently open as usual. The two avalanches that occurred recently all took place in the undeveloped area of the scenic area, which are natural phenomena, and have not caused any casualties or property losses.

Mr. Zhang, a tourist who was hiking in Yubeng Village, recalled that at around 2 pm on February 20th, he and other tourists just retreated from the ice lake to the entrance of the base camp when they suddenly heard a sound like thunder. He thought it was thunder, but the boss of the base camp ran out and told them that a local avalanche had occurred.

Mr. Zhang said that since the location of the avalanche was quite far from them, after the avalanche, they were only covered by a thin layer of snow. They also didn't feel any danger. The video he provided showed that there was a lot of snow sliding down from the top of the mountain right in front of them.
